Description

This program provides the skills and concepts required to safely and comfortably navigate underwater during a dive. You will learn how to use a compass and natural navigation techniques, estimate distance, basic navigation patterns and how to leave and return to a designated point. You will earn the SSI Navigation Specialty certification after successful completion of this program.

Open Water Diver training introduced you to the fundamentals of underwater navigation, but many entry-level divers are content to simply follow their Dive Master from point to point on the dive. Understanding how to navigate a dive site increases your comfort and confidence during your underwater adventures! Advanced navigation skills enable you and your buddy to safely navigate the dive from start to finish. By using a compass or observing your natural surroundings, you will learn the navigation skills necessary to master your marine environment. Properly developing these skills requires time and practice and in-water experience that can only be gained by going diving.
