Unforgettable aquatic adventures for kids – Go underwater and discover the wonder of Snorkel, Scuba, Mermaid, and Freediving Explorer programs. The mission of SSI Explorers is simple: To involve children in scuba diving, freediving, snorkeling, and mermaid so they can experience the excitement of water exploration!

Children are the key to the future of SCUBA diving. Until now, they have never had the opportunity to be a solid part of the diving community. The Explorers Program was designed specially to welcome children into the community and keep them a part of it for the rest of their lives, while learning valuable life tools. The Explorers Program teaches children the knowledge and skills required to be a safe SCUBA diver, freediver, snorkeler, and - yes even a mermaid! - while encouraging them to have as much fun as possible! As a pool-only program, the SCUBA Explorers Program offers all of the training and education that a regular Open Water Diver receives. Learning to scuba dive in the Scuba Explorers Program is the foundation on which children build self-confidence, discipline, and self-esteem. Participation in Explorers offers children the opportunity to learn more about the world around them, gain diving proficiency, be active in the scuba community, meet new and interesting people, and do things they never imagined possible! The SCUBA Explorers program is unique not only to the diving community, but also to the majority of other adventure sports as well. The SSI Explorers program allows children starting at age six to go underwater and sample the different ways they can explore the aquatic world around them. They will gain a solid foundation in ocean conservation and have the opportunity to experience four main aquatic adventures: snorkeling, scuba diving, freediving, and swimming like a real mermaid. SSI Explorers can also expand their diving knowledge as they continue their underwater experience with specialty courses like marine mammal ecology, underwater photography, and 20 others.

The SCUBA Explorers Program is not a one-time experience. Children will have 5 different pool sessions. Each session is approx. 2hrs long and builds on the previous session. The SCUBA Explorers Program concludes with the Demo Explorer session. Demo Explorer, is for the children to demonstrate for their family and friends some of the skills that they have learned in the SCUBA Explorers. This is a very exciting time for the children! This is the child’s graduation and entry into the scuba community. After successful completion of the Demo Explorer program, the Explorer has the opportunity to enroll in Specialty Explorer programs that are analogous to Specialty Scuba Programs.

Required equipment: Students must provide their own swimsuit, mask, snorkels and fins. All other equipment including tanks, regulators and buoyancy compensator will be provided.
Additional information: Participants must be at least 8 years of age and must be comfortable in water and be able to maintain their buoyancy in water too deep to stand in. Must sign waiver and must have parent or guardian-signed waiver.

Schedule and availability vary based on the child’s and instructors schedule, number of participants, and the SCUBA Explorer session being conducted. Price is $275.00 plus the cost of the program book and digital learning materials.
