Trip Highlights:
Day 1: Auckland Arrival Our private transfer will meet us at Auckland Airport and our New Zealand adventure will commence! Auckland is a multi-cultural urban oasis of food, music, arts, and culture. Auckland Museum offers a great introduction to New Zealand with internationally significant Maori and Pacific collections to explore. There are also options to get right into nature with whale watching or visit top attractions including the Sky Tower and Mt. Eden's Volcanic Crater.
Day 2: Rotorua Enjoy the scenic journey to Rotorua, distinguished by Maori culture and geothermal activity. Rotorua is a geothermal wonderland and is the tribal home of the Te Arawa people, who settled in its lakeside geothermal area more than 600 years ago. We will encounter dramatic geysers, bubbling mud pools, crystal-clear streams, magical forests, and 18 beautiful freshwater lakes!
The National Kiwi Hatchery (45 minutes experience) We'll learn all about New Zealand's national icon at the world's leading kiwi hatchery and discover how they've successfully hatched over two thousand kiwi chick. If we're lucky, we'll see a newly hatched kiwi chick!
Rotorua Canopy Tours The Original Canopy Tour is an unforgettable and enlightening adventure, perfect for all ages.
Redwoods Treewalk Rotorua Redwoods Treewalk is a 600-metre long, eco-tourism walk in the heart of Rotorua's Redwood Forest. Consisting of a series of 23 suspension bridges, traversing 22 majestic Redwood trees that are more than 117 years old!
Day 3: RotoruaThe Hell's Gate Geothermal Park is Rotorua’s most active geothermal area featuring a walkway
lined with unique geothermal wonders and interactive opportunities. After learning about the unique healing muds of Hell's Gate during our walk of the geothermal area, we'll experience this for ourselves at New Zealand’s Historic Spa experience. Experience includes: + Geothermal Reserve Walk + Hell's Gate Mud Bath + Hell's Gate Sulphur Spa.
Te Puia Our Heritage Rotorua We'll enjoy a Māori Cultural Experience including a Hāngī Dinner, where we'll hear stories and learn how Māori traditions live on today.
Day 4: Waitomo Glowworm Caves + Queenstown World-renowned, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves occupy a high placing in the New Zealand vacation wish-list. The glowworm, Arachnocampa luminosa, is unique to New Zealand. Thousands of these tiny creatures radiate their unmistakable luminescent light. We'll enjoy the world famous boat ride under thousands of magical glowworms and become a part of over 120 years of cultural and natural history. Be ready to marvel at Mother Nature's light display as we glide silently through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto.
Auckland to Queenstown domestic flight. On Day 4, we'll depart depart Auckland for Queenstown on a domestic flight. (The cost of the domestic flight is not included in the trip cost.
Lord of the Rings fans, rejoice! We'll recognize many Middle-earth locations in Queenstown.
Day 5: Queenstown + Milford Sound This region offers offers a majestic fiord, dramatic and awe-inspiring scenery and prolific flora and fauna. Our pilot will have us visit the famous Skippers Canyon, the Paradise region (recently made popular as film locations for Lord of the Rings/Hobbit Trilogies), and the Donne glacier among many other gorgeous geologic features.
The second half of our adventure will have us boarding the "Spirit of Milford" to enjoy our Milford Sound Nature Cruise.
Day 6: Queenstown Get ready to enjoy a full-day immersive food and wine tour!
Skyline Gondola Queenstown As we begin to wind down our trip, we'll relax and take in the stunning views as we ride the steepest cable car life in the Southern Hemisphere.
Day 7: Depart Queenstown Our private transfer will deliver us to Queenstown Airport for our departing flight.
