SSI Scuba Explorers - Enriched Air Nitrox
A continuation of the SCUBA Explorers program: By breathing oxygen enriched air while scuba diving you can increase your bottom times and safety margins, plus shorten your surface intervals - so you can spend more time diving and less time waiting! Students will be able to answer how changes in gas mixtures affect what we can do under water, what changes in our equipment needs to breathe higher levels of oxygen, as well as learn how to use the equipment necessary to analyze the breathing gas in the tanks before diving. These skills will help young divers be prepared to decide what kinds of gas mixtures to choose when diving and make them more knowledgeable, skilled divers when they are ready to hit the open water!
What To Do Before Class:
Participants must have already completed the introductory, three day SSI Scuba Explorers Program. All waivers must be signed and there must be a current parent or guardian-signed waiver on file.

Students will learn how to use the equipment necessary to analyze the oxygen content in a tank, determine depth limits, and complete required documentation.
The classroom session will then be followed by an in-pool dive session where students will practice and build on the skills they learned in previous classes. Students willnotbe breathing enriched air during this pool diving session.
