SSI Scuba Explorers - Marine Mammal Ecology

A continuation of the SCUBA Explorer program: Do you have a passion to save the ocean and the marine animals that call it their home? Does the thought of diving with whales fascinate you? Do you want to learn more about the ecology, biology, and conservation of marine mammals?

 

What To Do Before Class:

Participants must have already completed the introductory, three day SSI Scuba Explorers Program.  All waivers must be signed and there must be a current parent or guardian-signed waiver on file.

What to Expect In Class 

The classroom session where students will learn about the biology and behaviors of ocean mammals, as well as why efforts to conserve these species is important. 

The classroom session will then be followed by an in-pool dive session where students will explore our own simulated underwater reef to get an idea of what kinds of wonders are awaiting us underwater!

What To Bring To Class

  1. Swimsuit, towel, mask, snorkel, and fins.  

  2. Scuba Explorer book. 

  3. Snack or lunch and a water bottle. 

  4. Dry clothes to change into and shower supplies if desired.
