DESCRIPTION

The SSI Water Safety Attendant program is the first step on your path to joining your first Lifeguard team. Lifeguards have two primary responsibilities: preventing accidents and saving lives. For some, lifeguarding is a fun and exciting summer job or part-time work while attending school. Others join professional water safety teams and lifeguarding becomes a full-time career. Lifeguards work in a variety of environments. They may guard a community pool, summer camp, commercial water park, or designated swim area at a lake or beach, and can supervise swimmers of all ages. Lifeguards interact with the public. They are responsible for educating swimmers, communicating safety rules, and customer service. They are friendly, but also capable of displaying strong leadership, especially in an emergency. Becoming a lifeguard helps individuals develop skills that are useful throughout their life.

**NOTE: An SSI React Right certification (or equivalent) is required for enrollment in this program
  • Weekday programs run Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 5pm.
  • Weekday programs run Monday + Wednesday or Tuesday + Thursday for two consecutive weeks (4 sessions total)
